Undergraduate:
The Faculty of Computer Science and Information Systems is a well-established center for higher education in the field of computer science. From as early as the 1980s we have offered a degree in Computer Science, making us an expert in the area, with courses tailored to the industrial needs. We are an excellent center for teaching, learning and research, producing skilled and talented graduates in high demand by the industry. Always striving for excellence, we are awarded the Multimedia Super corridor status in 2002.

We aim to provide students with computer and generic skills, with hopes of producing well-rounded, skilled and remarkable graduates. The BSc Computer Science course is based on the international standards proposed by Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and The Computer Society of the Institute for Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE-CS).

The faculty is committed in spearheading world class higher education in computing technology and producing skilled and able graduates to fulfill the dynamic needs of Malaysia. We have an experienced, friendly and vibrant community of lecturers ready to guide you in your path towards excellence.

Postgraduate

The faculty has entered a new, exciting, and challenging era. We are creating a preeminent world-class computer science and informatics institute known for its pursuit of excellence in academic programs, leading-edge research, and impact on local and global economic development and quality of life. 

Our programs provide students with a firm technical foundation; also knowledge of the organizational and industrial context of computer science and information systems and a vision of the possibilities of emerging fields. We are committed to the delivery of excellent post graduate programs as well as the pursuit of first class research in all major computer science and informatics disciplines and a growing number of interdisciplinary fields such as Bioinformatics.
For the 2005-2006 academic year, there are approximately 390 post graduate students in the faculty. Apart from Malaysians, our student body consist of students, lecturers, researchers and professionals from Indonesia, Thailand, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Maldives, Myanmar, Vietnam, China, Yemen, Chad, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Sudan and Nigeria. To date, we have 38 graduate faculty staffs (who are Professors, Associate professors and PhD holders). Many of our alumni have impressive records of employment and research achievements, and some are currently enrolled in the most prestigious graduate schools. Our graduates are in demand by science-based industries and universities throughout the country.
In addition to our educational programs, research is a most important aspect of the faculty. As such, the faculty is in a position to generate new knowledge by the pursuit of high quality research and to foster economic development through cooperative research and technology transfer with the private sector. Within the faculty, there are several outstanding research facilities including the Artificial Intelligent and Bioinformatics Lab, the Computer Graphics and Multimedia Lab, the Information Systems and Database lab, the Industrial Computing Lab, and the Computer and Network Security Lab. The faculty is proud to have members who direct active research programs and who have received national and international recognition and awards. During the 8th Malaysian Plan (2001-2005), the faculty manage to secure over RM8 million in terms of research grants. Many of our postgraduates have the opportunity to work in research laboratories, under the guidance and supervision of renowned professors.
